A Guide To Aromatherapy Essential Oils, Hydrosols, Blending, And Carrier Oils

Welcome To Aromatherapy Essential Oils Guide!
Aromatherapy Absolutes Have A Concentrated Smell
Like essential oils, absolutes are extracted from plants but they are much more concentrated than the traditional essential oils which have been used for healing for centuries.

Aromatherapy Blending
Blending isn’t really that hard, you just need to understand a few things before you start blending on your own.

Aromatherapy Carrier Oils
Aromatherapy carrier oils are key because they are used for diluting the essential oils which can be very potent. These essential oils come straight from the plant and in many cases to use them without dilution would be very costly both in terms of money and safety.

Distilled Essential Oils
Distilled essential oils are a traditional method of getting the plant to release it’s oils without harming the plant or introducing harmful chemicals into the oils - it’s a more natural approach to a substance that is used for natural healing.

Essential Oil Solvent Extraction Methods
Solvent extraction is used for plants that cannot withstand the high heat used in steam distillation. For some plants, the heat damages them so much that the essential oils are ruined therefore, they must be extracted via other means.

Expressed Essential Oils
Expressed essential oils are extracted from the plant without using heat. This is an ancient method and often involves squeezing by hand or using a press. It is a preferred method to use since it does not involve harsh chemicals.

Hydrosols
When essential oils are extracted from plants, there is a byproduct of this process called hydrosols which is the left over water from steam distillation.

Aromatherapy Infused Oils
Infused oils are great for aromatherapy because they are less expensive than some of the essential oils that are extracted using more costly methods. They smell great and can be used for massage or even as healing ointments for skin irritations.
